AM calls for 30mph speed limit through Llanover

Monmouth Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is calling on the Welsh Government’s Cabinet Minister for Transport, Ken Skates AM, to reduce the speed limit from 40pmh to 30mph on the A4042 trunk road through the village of Llanover.

Villagers have expressed concern about the increased volume and speed of traffic passing through the village, where two road accidents have occurred within the last 12 months, including one which crashed into the wall of the bus stop.

Giving his full support to the campaign, Mr Ramsay said:” Llanover is an attractive village and a popular tourist destination for cyclists visiting the National Park. There is currently no speed calming signage in place in the village, which has five council road junctions, four bus stops and 14 entry points.

“Local residents are obviously very concerned about the current speed of traffic through the village and I hope Mr Skates will look favourably on their request to reduce the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph.”
