MONMOUTH AM Nick Ramsay was delighted to welcome two distinguished guests to the Welsh Assembly last week - Ruben Zamora, the former El Salvador Ambassador to the UN and the current El Salvador Ambassador to the UK, Elizabeth Hayek Wiemann.
Ruben’s visit to the Assembly was one of a number of events being organised by the Romero Trust in the lead up to Romero Day, which commemorates the life of Archbishop Oscar Romero, who was assassinated in March 1980 as he was celebrating Mass. He was later declared a martyr and beatified in 2015.
Speaking after the visit, Mr Ramsay said: “It was a privilege to be invited to host the event and to hear Ruben give such an inspirational talk about the life and times of Oscar Romero.
“It was a pleasure to meet Ruben who has had a distinguished and incident packed career as a founding member of his country’s political opposition front FDR and to hear more of his current role as an Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.”
