AM raises concerns over failure of cavity wall insulation

Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay has questioned the Welsh Government about action being taken across Wales to ascertain the number of homes affected by the failure of retrofit cavity wall insulation under Welsh Government schemes.

Raising the issue during yesterday’s Plenary session in the Senedd, Mr Ramsay asked the Cabinet Secretary, Lesley Griffiths AM : “So, what are you doing to make sure you fully do ascertain the number of people who do need assistance in this regard? And, what lessons have been learned by the Welsh Government and, indeed, the companies retrofitting, to make sure that this problem isn't happening now and that different but associated retrofitting issues in the future won't emerge?

The Cabinet Secretary replied: “Well, you ask what we've done as a Government, and, certainly under the new contracts that we have for Nest 2 and Arbed 3, we further strengthened the process by including strict minimum guarantee requirements, robust monitoring—because I don't think the monitoring was as robust as it could have been in the beginning—and assurance, and we also obviously inspect all installations.”
