Local Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, was pleased to receive a letter from Royal Mail last week confirming that it will endeavour to complete requests for a post box in the Fforest Coalpit area within the next few months in order to meet the requirements set out by Ofcom.
Nick had contacted Royal Mail after receiving correspondence from residents in the Fforest Coalpit area of his constituency who requested a replacement post box following the closure of the local post office several years ago. Crucorney Community Council had also made efforts to contact Royal Mail, but had not received any response.
Speaking today Nick said: “I am very pleased that Royal Mail has now agreed that the residents of Fforest Coalpit are entitled to a local post box to serve their rural community.
“I’m sure everyone will be happy that they will not have to drive several miles to post a letter once the new box is installed.
“Royal Mail has promised to keep me updated about progress, and I hope it will not be too long before all necessary permissions have been obtained and the new post box is installed in a suitable location.”
