Local Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, has written to Stagecoach to alert the bus company to a problem with timetable information displayed at Abergavenny bus station.
Nick was contacted by an Abergavenny resident who wished to travel from Abergavenny to Crickhowell by bus on a Sunday. Information at the bus station stated that the 43 and X43 services were available Monday to Saturday only with the timetable on display stating “No Sunday Service”.
The constituent enquired about this at the Abergavenny Tourist Information Centre, and staff checked the Stagecoach website which confirmed the existence of a Sunday service which the lady in question has now used on several occasions.
Speaking today Nick said: “I have written to Stagecoach immediately about the error in the timetable on display at Abergavenny bus station. My constituent wrote over a month ago but is still waiting for a reply.
“It’s a great shame that passengers cannot rely on accurate timetables when many people, especially more elderly members of the public do not have access to the internet and online services.”
Nick added:“ Trying to encourage more people to use public transport will not work if information on display is incorrect. I’m sure more people would use this Sunday service if they were aware it existed. It needs to be publicised at the bus station, and I hope Stagecoach will remedy this very soon.”
