Local AM Supports BHF’s Air Pollution campaign

Tuesday, 14 January, 2020

Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, is supporting a campaign launched yesterday by the British Heart Foundation which aims to increase public awareness of the impact air pollution can have on the body.

The BHF has been petitioning the Government to adopt WHO guidelines into Welsh law since 2018, and the Welsh Government’s clean air plan recently came out for consultation with a plan to introduce an Act after the next Assembly elections.

Speaking today about the campaign Nick said: “ I’m supporting this campaign for stricter limits on air pollution so that everyone can breathe cleaner air. We now know the link between air pollution and heart and circulatory disease and government action can improve the quality of the air we breathe.

“I’ll be urging the Welsh Government to pursue its own legislation on this important issue and to introduce a Clean Air Act for Wales as soon as possible.”
