Local AM Supports NSPCC’s “Fight for a Fair Start” Campaign

Local Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, is supporting the NSPCC’s campaign “Fight for a Fair Start” which is calling for perinatal mental health support for every mum, so that every baby and every family gets a fair start.

Up to one in five mums and one in ten dads experience mental health problems during pregnancy and after the birth. But getting the right support at the right time isn’t guaranteed.

In Wales the campaign is calling for additional funding to eliminate the disparity in access to specialist perinatal mental health services for women and their families, and to ensure services meet national quality standards.

Speaking today Nick said: “As a new father myself I understand that this is a crucial time when parents are finding their feet, building bonds with their baby and trying to provide the best possible start in life. We need to do all we can to ensure parents can access the support they need if they are struggling with their mental health and that’s why I’m supporting this campaign.”
