Last Thursday local Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, visited constituents with businesses in Monmouth who had been badly affected by the unprecedented flooding in the town following the recent storms.
Nick called in at businesses on Hadnock Road, Monmouth meeting Brenden Oliver in his premises and also Mike Rhys owner of the MOT centre.
Speaking after the visits Nick said:” I was very sorry to see the devastation the flooding has caused to local businesses and residents in Monmouth, and appreciate how devastated everyone is feeling, especially with another week of unsettled weather forecast this week.
“I will be calling on the Welsh Government to provide emergency support to help all those businesses and households affected by the recent flooding in the county, and especially those who are unable to obtain insurance.
“ Monmouthshire will need financial help to recover from the flooding and to prepare for future flooding if these storms and levels of rainfall are to become more frequent as many are predicting.”
