Local Member of the Welsh Parliament for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, has been inundated with emails from parents and A Level students in the last few days over the perceived unfairness over exam grading this year.
Some students have reported receiving A grades when they had been predicted to receive A*, and in extreme cases, students receiving C Grades when A Grades were predicted.
Speaking today Nick said: “I fully appreciate the concerns of students and parents. A Level grades can have life-changing outcomes for many students.
“It’s time for the Welsh Government to review this situation urgently and rely on teacher assessed grades rather than the failed algorithm. Any appeals system is unlikely to be able to cope with demand or make decisions quickly enough for students who need to know now where they stand.”
