Member of the Welsh Parliament for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, was pleased to have been able to attend the Remembrance Ceremony held at the war memorial in Abergavenny’s town centre yesterday.
Without the annual parade through the town and the usual crowds, this year’s Remembrance Sunday was very different both in Abergavenny and across the constituency with very limited numbers of invited guests able to attend each local event.
Speaking after the ceremony yesterday Nick said: “ I was pleased to be invited by the Royal British legion to pay my respects to the fallen and lay a wreath in Abergavenny.
“ This year was particularly poignant following the 75th anniversary of VJ day, remembering the forgotten army. The absence of the usual crowds in the town centre also served as a reminder of all those lives lost in 2020 to Covid-19. We will remember them.”
