Monmouth Assembly Member Nick Ramsay was delighted to join members of Monmouthshire and District Scouts for an inspirational centenary remembrance service at Raglan Castle on Sunday.
Poppies cascaded from the castle keep and adorned the castle grounds, each of the ceramic poppies being made by one of the 811 young people and 276 adult volunteers in remembrance of the 1332 members of Monmouthshire communities who paid the ultimate price in conflicts over the last 100 years.
After signing the visitors’ book, Nick praised all those involved in organising such a memorable event.
“It was a poignant and heartfelt tribute .A tremendous amount of work must have gone into making all those poppies and placing them to form such a colourful and spectacular display - truly a day to cherish and remember. “
