Local Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, sponsored an event held at the Assembly’s Pierhead Building last Wednesday 17th July to help raise awareness of rheumatoid arthritis.
The event followed the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society’s successful awareness week held in June, and offered advice to Assembly Members on how they can support their constituents with the disease.
Speaking after the event Nick said: “The event was very informative, and I was shocked to learn that around 25,000 people in Wales currently suffer from rheumatoid arthritis which is a debilitating, systematic autoimmune disease.
“Furthermore, arthritis is not only a condition affecting the elderly or associated with ageing, as it can affect anyone at any age. It was a pleasure to meet people affected by the disease and to learn more about the problems they face.”
