Local Member of the Welsh Parliament for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, has today written to the Welsh Government requesting that small indoor theatres in Wales may be permitted to reopen provided necessary safety guidelines are followed.
Speaking earlier Nick said: “I have been contacted in the last few days on behalf of The Savoy Theatre in Monmouth asking if any indication could be provided on when small theatres such as theirs may be able to reopen.
“My constituents point out that indoor theatre under strict guidelines was given the go ahead in England last week and that some indication of when Wales will follow would be very welcome. They consider that small theatres such as The Savoy could reopen safely on a small scale if permitted, and they need to be able to plan for the future when struggling to keep afloat.
“ I have written to the Deputy Minister for Sport and Culture urging that small theatres in my constituency and across Wales are permitted to reopen provided similar measures as announced in England are in place.”
