MONMOUTH Assembly Member Nick Ramsay was among the millions of people in the UK who switched off their lights for one hour at 8.30pm on Saturday in support of Earth Hour.
Starting off as a simple idea, Earth Hour has quickly become a global phenomenon. Last year over eight million people in Britain alone took part in the big switch off, alongside landmarks such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Piccadilly Lights, and last Saturday lights were switched off from Sydney Opera House in Australia to Christ the Redeemer in Rio and from the Empire State Building in New York to the Eiffel Tour in France.
Commenting on the project, Nick said: “Earth Hour is a brilliant idea! It makes us pause to appreciate the world we all share and think how we can best protect it.”
