Scrapping of tolls a welcome Christmas present, says Monmouth AM

Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay has hailed Monday, December 17th as “an historic day” as tolls on the Severn Bridge were scrapped at 5.30am, bringing to an end the  52 year old charge for crossing from England to Wales.

“This is a welcome Christmas present both for businesses in Monmouthshire and for anyone planning on crossing the bridges to visit family or friends over the Christmas period,” said Mr Ramsay.

“No one should have to pay a fee to enter Monmouthshire and the abolition of the tolls is a clear sign that Monmouthshire and South East Wales are open for business.”
